Dr. Jason Fritz

Acting Assistant Director and President of Defense Security Cooperation University

Dr. Jason Fritz assumed the duties of the Acting President of the Defense Security Cooperation University (DSCU), a component of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), in March 2025. In this role, he provides leadership and oversight for DSCU’s internal and external functions and integrates the University's mission sets through academic rigor, innovation, and increased efficiencies across DSCU's six components and three headquarters elements. DSCU is the Department of Defense's primary Security Cooperation educational institution. Its mission is to advance the knowledge and practice of Security Cooperation through education, training, workforce development, advising, research, analysis, and lessons learned.
 
Dr. Fritz has more than twenty years of national security experience in government, academia, and leadership in the private sector. Prior to joining DSCU, he was a subject matter expert for U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the World Bank, the Brookings Institution, and other private sector companies. Dr. Fritz has been an adjunct on the faculties of the George Washington University, American University, and Johns Hopkins University and is a contributing editor at War on the Rocks. He joined the DSCU in August 2022 as a College of Strategic Security Cooperation Senior Lecturer and has served as the DSCU Vice President and Chief Academic Officer. From 2002 to 2008, Dr. Fritz was a cavalry officer in the U.S. Army and served three tours of duty in Iraq.
 
Dr. Fritz received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Sciences from the United States Military Academy at West Point, a Master of Science in Terrorism and Homeland Security Policy from American University, and a Ph.D. in Justice, Law, and Criminology from American University.
