DSCA ORIENTATION FOR SAO PERSONNEL

Information Paper

The Services scheduled several days of Washington orientations for most SAO personnel on the way to their overseas assignments. DSCA has set aside Tuesday afternoons to present its orientation; orientations can be conducted at other times of the week when schedule conflicts require.

The Services notify Compt/RM of dates when incoming personnel while be in town. Compt/RM coordinates with various DSCA offices to compile a schedule for each individual. Copies of the schedule (and subsequent revisions) are sent electronically to all participants and their supervisors. DSCA orientations for SAO personnel usually consist of the following:

bullet Office call with the Director or Deputy Director (Chiefs only)

bullet Agency overview briefing by LPA

bullet Country program briefing by ERASA or MEAN

bullet Financial program briefing by Compt/FM

bullet Humanitarian assistance or demining program briefing by HA/D (if applicable)

bullet Program Support Directorate briefing (all Chiefs and others as applicable)

bullet SAO Budget and quality of life briefing by Compt/RM

Compt/RM provides each individual with a copy of the SAO roster and a folder with agency and country-specific information.

New DSCA employees are invited to sit in on the agency overview briefing (which usually begins at 1300) and any other subjects of interest.

Point of contact for SAO Orientation is (703) 604-6551, DSN 664-6551.
