U.S. arms sales approvals on track to reach nearly $40 billion

FARNBOROUGH, England (Reuters) - The U.S. government is on track to approve nearly $40 billion (£30.1 billion) in foreign military sales in the 2016 fiscal year that ends Oct. 1, down from $46.6 billion last year, a top Pentagon official said on Wednesday.

"We're tracking toward $40 billion. We're tracking towards our forecast," U.S. Navy Vice Admiral Joe Rixey, who heads the Pentagon's Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), told Reuters at the Farnborough International Airshow.

Pentagon Expedites $17.9 Million in Equipment to Aid Iraqis

WASHINGTON, Feb. 24, 2015 - The Defense Department has expedited $17.9 million in equipment and supplies - some which have already been delivered - to the Iraqi government, Pentagon spokesman Army Col. Steve Warren told reporters today.

Warren provided a general update on equipment and supplies authorized for delivery to the Iraqis.

USASAC commander Maj. Gen. Del Turner kicked off the event, noting the USASAC CPMs all have challenges, and this offered a means to share information and help resolve issues based on the ability to collaborate in these systems.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 18, 2013 – Though 2012 was a banner fiscal year with $69.1 billion in foreign military sales, that program and others like it are not in the business of selling equipment, but rather are promoting military-to-military relationships with international partners, a Defense Security Cooperation Agency official said here yesterday.

Final C-17 enters AF inventory

ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- The Air Force received its final C-17 Globemaster III - the 223rd aircraft - during ceremonies Thursday at Joint Base Charleston.

The last new cargo jet, built in Boeing's Long Beach, Calif., facility, was delivered this week to the South Carolina base's 437th Airlift Wing and 315th Airlift Wing. Although this will be the final one sent to theAir Force, overall there were 256 C-17s delivered, including those to foreign military customers.
