The Honorable Oksana Markarova, Ukraine's Ambassador to the United States, sent a very special message to celebrate DSCA’s 50 Anniversary, congratulating the agency on reaching this memorable milestone of public service and sharing her country’s appreciation for U.S. security assistance during the current crisis. We offer our sincere thanks to Ambassador Markarova for honoring us, and we salute the armed forces and citizens of Ukraine.

Defense Security Cooperation Agency Commemorates 50 Years of Partnership, Ally Support

Agency leaders and employees, dignitaries, ambassadors, and representatives from U.S. military and allies and partner nations finally had the opportunity to toast the work DSCA has been doing for more than a half century during a June 14 event at Mount Vernon, Virginia.

There have been relations between America's military and the militaries of other nations since the United States first became a country. However, it wasn't until 1971 that the Defense Department created the Defense Security Assistance Agency — later renamed the Defense Security Cooperation Agency — to make security cooperation a formal function of the Defense Department.
