2024 Security Cooperation Conference: Building Lasting Partnerships

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency’s (DSCA) directorate, the Defense Security Cooperation University (DSCU) facilitated the third Security Cooperation (SC) Conference, titled “Building Lasting Partnerships: What Have We Learned?” October 28–30, 2024, at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, DC. Approximately 450 security cooperation policymakers, scholars, and practitioners convened to bridge scholarship and practical knowledge, aiding the security cooperation workforce to work more effectively and sustainably with allies and partners.

Defense Security Cooperation University Co-Hosts FMS Symposium

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency’s (DSCA) Defense Security Cooperation University (DSCU) and their co-host, the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment (OUSD(A&S)), facilitated the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Symposium, held May 23-24, 2024, at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland. Approximately 250 policymakers, scholars, practitioners, and defense industry professionals gathered to discuss key issues facing the security cooperation community.

DSCA Announces Launch of DSCU’s Young Institute

(Arlington, Virginia) – On April 29, 2024, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) officially launched the Brigadier General Charles Young Research, Analysis, and Lessons Learned Institute within the Defense Security Cooperation University (DSCU), one of five offices reporting to the Director of DSCA.  The DSCU Young Institute serves the security cooperation enterprise through research, critical inquiry, and scholarship that advances the knowledge and practice of security cooperation.

Since it opened just four years ago under the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, the Defense Security Cooperation University has made strides in achieving the initial goals it set for itself and has also expanded and improved on its ability to train the nation's security cooperation workforce. It is now in the process of evolving further, in order to respond to a rapidly changing strategic environment.
