WASHINGTON, October 27, 2014 - The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) announced sales of $34.2 billion for Fiscal Year 2014.  

Sales under the government-to-government Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Program totaled $31.2 billion while sales executed using non-FMS cases managed under various security cooperation authorities totaled $3.0 billion for Fiscal Year 2014.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 26, 2014 — The Defense Department has made critical contributions to the fight against the deadly Ebola outbreak in West Africa, and today Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel described additional ways the Pentagon is helping in the broader battle against infectious disease outbreaks of the future.

He spoke at a gathering of top government and military officials and infectious disease experts from 44 countries here to attend the Global Health Security Agenda, or GHSA, Summit hosted by President Barack Obama.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 16, 2014 — In a whole-of-government approach and with international partners, the United States is significantly upping its response to the West African Ebola epidemic to save lives now and halt future outbreaks, President Barack Obama said today during a visit to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.

The president received updates from CDC Director Dr. Tom Frieden and his team on the Ebola outbreak and efforts to help mobilize the international community to fight the deadly viral disease.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 4, 2014 — Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel today praised the actions of the Ukrainian armed forces in their current engagements in eastern Ukraine and pledged continued U.S. support for their efforts, Pentagon Press Secretary Navy Rear Adm. John Kirby said.

Hagel made the comments during a meeting with Col. Gen. Valeriy Heletey, Ukraine’s defense minister, on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Wales, Kirby said in a statement summarizing the meeting.

U.S. CENTRAL COMMAND AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY, Sept. 3, 2014 — The U.S. government provided the container delivery system bundles and the military aircraft, but something just seemed to be missing on packages destined to be dropped to Iraqis who had fled from terrorists in northern Iraq.

Air Force Master Sgt. Stephen Brown had something sweet in mind for the Iraqis’ children to make things just right.

WASHINGTON, Aug. 30, 2014 — American military planes along with Australian, French and British aircraft airdropped humanitarian aid to the town of Amirli in Iraq, Pentagon Press Secretary Navy Rear Adm. John Kirby said in a statement issued today.

U.S. aircraft also conducted airstrikes against nearby ISIL terrorists in order to support the humanitarian mission, Kirby said in his statement.
