WASHINGTON, April 22, 2014 - Recent equipment deliveries highlight the importance of Defense Security Cooperation Agency programs in helping partners to build their military capability:

On 7 April, Kenneth Merten, the United States Ambassador to the Republic of Croatia and Croatian Chief of Staff General Lovric led a ceremony marking the hand-over of 30 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles (MRAPs) at the Croatian Barracks.   Acquired through DSCA’s Excess Defense Article program, these are the first MRAPs that the country has ever owned.

On 11 April – The Croatian Army held a simulation exercise with the state-of-the-art MILES IWS simulation system for realistic tactical training.  Acquired through DSCA’s 1206 program, the system will enable soldiers to perform simulated exercises and analyze footage of those mock battles, as well as further interoperability with partners.

On 15 April - The 1206 Program delivered 10 FY13 vehicles to Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. These vehicles are part of a 1206 program to support the Burkinabe Counterterrorism (CT) Company as a part of AFRICOM’s CT efforts in West Africa.  Last week, the 1206 Program delivered communications equipment, uniforms, helmets, body armor, medical equipment and organizational equipment.
