Hagel, Al-Sisi Discuss Regional Security Cooperation

WASHINGTON, Oct. 14, 2013 – Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel and Egyptian Minister of Defense Gen. Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi spoke by phone today and discussed regional security cooperation and other issues, Pentagon Press Secretary George Little said in a statement issued today.

Little’s statement reads as follows:

This morning, Secretary Hagel spoke by phone with Egyptian Minister of Defense Gen. Al-Sisi. Secretary Hagel called Gen. Al-Sisi to offer warm wishes for the Eid al-Adha holiday. They discussed the importance of the U.S.-Egyptian relationship to the national security of both countries and to the region. They also discussed the importance of regional security cooperation, particularly in the Sinai.

Both Secretary Hagel and Gen. Al-Sisi discussed their commitment to advance and strengthen the bilateral relationship between the United States and Egypt.
