Captain Patrick E. Jankowski is a native of St. Louis, Missouri and a 1995 graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy where he was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering Systems Design. Later in 2006, he earned his Master of Arts in Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Arts Public Finance from the Naval Postgraduate School. In 2011 he attended Navy Executive Leadership training in Newport, RI. Then in 2014 he attended the in-resident Joint Operations Planning & Strategy course at Joint Forces Staff Colleges.
At sea, he served aboard USS CHANCELLORSVILLE (CG-62) and USS VINCENNES (CG-49) as aviation division officer, helicopter detachment maintenance and officer-in-charge. Additionally, he deployed in USS ESSEX (LHD-2) with Expeditionary Strike Group 1 staff, USS KITTY HAWK (CV-63) with CARRIER AIR WING 5, USS LINCOLN (CVN-72) with CARRIER AIR WING 2, and USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN-74) with CARRIER AIR WING 9. His aviation assignments in the MH-60 B/R involved tours with Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadrons Light (HSL) 40, 41, 51, 47, 43 and Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 77, 73, 71. He served as Executive Officer and Commanding Officer of HSM-73 and 71.
His staff assignments include Aide de Camp to Commander Task Force 76 and Expeditionary Strike Group 1; Maritime Force Planner III Marine Expeditionary Force; Aviation Manpower Production and Throughput manager for Commander Naval Air Forces Pacific; Joint Requirements Officer and Programmer for the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Force Structure Resources and Assessments Directorate (J8); Maritime Aircraft Requirements Division Chief for Director Air Warfare (N98) Office of the Chief of Naval Operations; Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) Counter s-UAS program development officer and Counter VEO/ Nuclear Enterprise assessment team chief.
CAPT Jankowski served on teams awarded the Presidential Unit Citation, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Navy unit Commendation, and the Navy Battle “E” ribbon. His awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit commendations and service/campaign awards.
